57 YEARS EN-PLAQUE MENINGIOMA LEFT PARASAGITTAL MID THIRD SSS WITH
MASSIVE HYPEROSTOSIS.

The patient came to the clinic 09-September-2001 complaining
of
a bony lump in the left parietal region for 20 years. MRI performed
18-November-2000 showing en-plaque meningioma of the left parietal
region abutting the superior saggital sinus (SSS). Another MRI was
requested and performed, after what she was advised to undergo
surgery.
Comments:
1. En-plaque meningioma with massive intraossal extension must
be removed radically if it is feasible, and the hyperostotic bone
must be deproteinized by thermal destruction exposing the bone in
the autoclave for 15 min under the temperature 125 Celsius.
2. The dural defect is replaced by lyodura and the bone is
remolded after thermal treatment , using high-speed drill. |

The patient came from USA for check up and MRI of the brain
performed 04-February-2007 showing no recurrence. |
