OF HARTSHILL RECTANGLE AND SUBLAMINAR WIRES.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the
clinic 10-May-2004 complaining of weakness right
lower limb for what at UH he was operated and
Hartshill rectangle with sublaminar wires were
applied to the lumbar area 07-October-1997.
After this he did not improve, instead he got
more LBP with numbness of the right lower limb.
On examination, the patient in agonizing pain,
limping with exaggerated scoliotic stance with
almost drop both feet, more the right and weak
planterflexion both feet 3/5 and hypalgesia
right L2 and below and left S1 root territories. SLRS was
60 degrees right side with
pain.
Using the old incision,
removal of the construct and sublaminar wires at
L5, L2 and L3 were removed. Routine closure
of the wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery. The patient
neurologically still the same.
FOLLOW UP
The patient
did not came back to the clinic and the aim of
removal of the construct was to perform MRI studies
to resolve his problems.
Comments
Hartshill rectangle and sublaminar wires are
ferromagnetic and MRI investigation will be with
many artifacts, that it is impossible to know
what is going on.
