20-JANUARY-2014 ABDEL-RAOOF BAHA ELDEEN AL-JEQA 45 YEARS
EXTRUDED DISC C5-6 WITH LEFT FORAMINAL OCCLUSION.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic 18-January-2014
complaining of neck and left shoulder pain for 2
weeks. He had similar attack of minor degree one
year ago and recovered after one week.
MRI cervical spine done 18-January-2014 showing
extruded disc C5-6 with left foraminal
occlusion.
On examination; the patient has neck pain when
looking to all directions. there is weak grip,
extension of the left hand -4/5 and the left
triceps muscle -4/5.
Discectomy C5-6 with removal
of the extruded material to the left foramen,
until the dura was seen at that area. Samarys
cervical cage 17x13x6 mm inserted to C5-6 level.
Fusion of C5-6 done with Trestle cervical plate
18 mm length and fixed 4 screws 4x14 mm.
Smooth postoperative
recovery. The left radicular shooting pain
disappeared.
Comments
The patient has agonizing radicular pain, that
he was urging for surgery. He was admitted to
the hospital prior to scheduled plan to ease his
pain.
