YEARS EXTRUDED DISC C5-6 LEFT SIDE.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic
24-October-2002 complaining of neck pain for 3
weeks with left upper limb pain and numbness
left median distribution.
On examination: The patient has neck pain when
turning the head to all directions. There is
weak flexion and extension left hand -4/5 and
the left triceps muscle. There is hypalgesia
left median distribution.
The patient was sent for investigation and MRI
cervical spine done 26-October-2002 showing huge
extrusion C5-6 with left foraminal occlusion.
Through anterior approach the
level of C5-6 was identified and discectomy of C5-6
with osteophytectomy was achieved until the dura was
seen at the bottom of the disc space. All
stages of the operation were done under C-arm control.
Routine closure of the wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery.
He was sent to the ward. He showed dramatic
improvement of the power of the left upper limb.
Follow Up
The patient came 08-November-2002 with clean
wound and neurologically free.
