YEARS HUGE EXTRUDED DISC C4-5 WITH MYELORADICULAR SYNDROME.
Anamnesis
The patient a Yemeni citizen came to the clinic
01-October-2003 complaining of weak four limbs
with subsequent hypotrophy and difficult walking
for 4 years with rapid deterioration last 7
months. He is diabetic for 30 years under
treatment.
On examination: the patient is walking limping
with exaggerated scoliotic stance with mild neck
pain and the power of all upper limbs muscles
are 4/5, except the right hand grip and
extension 3/5. The power of the lower limbs are
4/5 except the left quadriceps muscle 5/5.
Babinski was positive both sides.
The patient was sent for investigations and MRI
of the brain performed 05-October-2003
showed old infarction of the right occipital
lobe and left cerebellar hemisphere. Cervical
MRI showing huge calcified extrusion C4-5 with
spinal cord compression and malacia of the
spinal cord.
Discectomy with
osteophytectomy of C4-5
was done until the dura was seen along all the
posterior aspects. All stages of surgery were
done under C-arm control.
Routine closure of the wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery. The power of the
upper limbs dramatically improved. He was sent
to the ward.
Skyra MRI with all clinical applications in the run since 28-Novemeber-2013.
