HUGE EXTRUDED DISC C5-6.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic
06-September-2003 complaining of neck pain for 9
months with left upper limb pain and numbness
ulnar distribution. MRI cervical spine done 21-May-2003 showing
huge PCD C5-6
more to the left. She is hypertensive for 19
years under treatment.
On examination: the patient has severe neck pain
when rotating the head to all directions. There
is weak grip, extension left hand and left
triceps muscle 3/5 with hypalgesia left ulnar distribution.
The patient was sent for investigations: Cervical
MRI done 29-September-2003 showing slight shrink
of the extrusion C5-6 with
left foraminal occlusion and still compressing
the spinal cord.
Discectomy with
osteophytectomy of C5-6
was done until the dura was seen along all the
posterior aspects. All fragments extruded inside
were removed. All stages of surgery were
done under C-arm control.
Routine closure of the wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery. The power of the
left upper limb normalized. She was sent
to the ward.
FOLLOW UP
The patient
came to the clinic 26-October-2003 with clean wound
with full power of the left upper limb and
no sensory deficit.
