AMIRA HASAN BARAKAT SEVERE AGONIZING PAIN OF THE LUMBOSACRAL AREA DUE TO DISKITIS OF L5-S.
Anamnesis
The patient was operated by me
29-June-2015
for diskitis of L5-S1. The patient still
suffering from severe pain in the lumbosacral
area more the right side. Senso-motor functions
were free.
Using Inomed N50 with TCU 20x100x10 canula RFA
after check stimulation with 2 Hz 1msec wave
length, which was applied to the right L4,5
S1-2-3 and left L5, S1-2-3 with the guidance of
the C-arm. Ablation was performed with 80c for
90 sec each.
Smooth postoperative recovery. The patient was
asked if there is other pains and she denoted
that she improved for 95%. She was sent to the floor.
Follow Up
The result of culture obtained 02-July-2015, was
Staphylococcus coagulase negative sensitive to
vancomycin, which was administered after surgery
and intermediate for Axone, which stopped and
replaced with Amikacin.
The patient could walk at the evening of the
procedure and freely ambulated the next day. The
agonizing pain disappeared and the smile
appeared when talking.
Comments
The patient with diskitis will suffer
from agonizing pain in the involved and surrounding areas
for long time. Radiofrequency stimulation and ablation can
achieve some improvement in pain management without
triggering the diskitis problem.
This is the first case in my life that I
give the RFA as trail to ease the long term pain of the
diskitis patient, hoping that it will be effective. Time
will tell the result in the long term observation.
