17-DECEMBER-2014 DALAL JUMA SABRI 47 YEARS
EXTRUDED DISC L5-S1 WITH LEFT FORAMINAL OCCLUSION.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic 10-December-2014
complaining of LBP for 1 year with left sciatica
for 5 days with exacerbation of the LBP. MRI
lumbar spine done 08-December-2014 showing
extruded disc L5-S1 with left foraminal
occlusion. The coronal sections of the MRI
showing an old mild structural scoliosis not
related with the recent complain. The patient is
a known hypertensive for 4 years in treatment.
On examination, the patient is limping with exaggerated scoliotic
stance. SLRS was 20 degrees with pain in the
left. There is weak dorsi and planterflexion
left foot 4/5.
Left S1 foraminotomy with partial flavotomy
L5-S1. The extruded disc was removed lateral to
the axilla and left sided intradiscal cleaning
L5-S1 disc space.
Smooth postoperative recovery. The power of the
left foot became normal.
Comments
There is still an estimated postoperative
recurrence around 7%.
