23-DECEMBER-2007 FARIS JAMEEL JACOB 62 YEARS HUGE EXTRUDED DISC L4-5 WITH
RIGHT UPWARD MIGRATION.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic 16-December-2007
complaining of right sciatica and LBP for 3
weeks.
MRI done 15-December-2007 showed an extruded
disc L4-5 with right upward migration.
On examination: the patient had weak planter and
dorsiflexion right foot 4/5 with scoliotic
stance.
Right L4-5 hemiflavotomy with removal of the
upward migrating piece and meticulous cleaning
of the disc space L4-5 right side.
Routine closure of the wound and smooth
postoperative recovery.
Comments
The recurrence rate in this case is below
the average - 7% because, the disc space is shallow and
meticulous cleaning was performed.
