The patient came to the clinic 25-May-2005 complaining of left
trigeminal neuralgia for 18 months. Neurologically the patient was
free and sent for MRI of the brain to rule out other causative
causes. Neurontine and tegretol did not gave release of her
symptoms.
The patient was admitted to the hospital and under G.A. using
Tohy needle 14 gauge, it was introduced through the left side of the
face and aided with image-intensifier it was brought to foramen
ovale and slowly introduced, until small amount of CSF came out.
Then it was returned back 10 mm and inflatable balloon 0.75 ml
was introduced and metrizamide was filled, so that it was pointing
to the middle fossa. The balloon was kept for 2 min, then deflated.
The procedure was without complications and the patient
discharged the same day.
