YEARS LUMBAR CANAL STENOSIS L2-3, 3-4, 4-5 AND L5-S1.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic 20-July-2002
complaining of LBP for 3 years with bilateral
sciatica, more the left with exacerbation last 3
weeks. The condition is progressing.
On examination: The patient in agonizing pain,
limping with exaggerated scoliotic stance. SLRS
70 degrees both sides with pain. There is weak
dorsi and planterflexion both feeet-4/5.
The patient was sent for investigation: MRI
lumbar spine performed 21-July-2002 showing
severe lumbar canal stenosis L2-3, L3-4, L4-5
and L5-S1.
Decompressive laminectomy L3, L4, L5 upper edge
of the sacrum and lower third of L2. Foraminotomy both
L3, L4, L5 and S1 roots both
sides. Inspection all disci was uneventful, for
what they were not violated. The patient was put in
Reverse Trendelenburg position with Valsalva
maneuver and hyperventilation. No CSF leak.
Routine closure of the wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery.
The power of both feet improved.
She was sent to the ward.
Follow Up
The patient came to the clinic 05-August-2002
with clean wound and the power of the feet
improved.
Comments
The sooner the surgical decompression,
the better the outcome.
