Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic 13-August-2007
complaining of severe neck and right shoulder
pain extending to the right hand for 20 days
with agonizing character making her unable to
sleep. MRI cervical spine performed
12-August-2007 showed PCD C5-6 with huge right
foraminal occlusion.
On examination: pain and limitation of neck
movement to all directions more pronounced when
looking to the right. Weak right hand flexion
and extension 3/5 and triceps muscle 3/5 with
hypalgesia of the volar surface of the forearm.
There is also weak dorsiflexion right foot
without other myelopathic signs.
Discectomy C5-6 was performed and the extruded
disc was removed in several pieces and the dura
became free at the end of the operation.
Smooth postoperative recovery and normalization
of the power of the right upper limb.
Comments
The incision was 15 mm length and the
anatomical relationships were that, it was an easy operation.
Removal part of the posterior longitudinal
ligament is mandatory to see the dura so as not to miss a
fragment inside the canal.
