YEARS HUGE EXTRUDED DISC C6-7 WITH RIGHT FORAMINAL OCCLUSION.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic 09-September-2014
complaining of neck and right upper limb pain for
2 months with numbness of all fingers right
hand. MRI cervical spine done 01-September-2014
showing huge extruded disc C6-7 with right
foraminal occlusion.
On examination; the patient has pain when
looking to left, down and more up. There is weak
grip, extension right hand 4/5 and the right
triceps muscle -4/5.
Discectomy of C6-7 until the dura was seen at
all the posterior border of the disc cavity.
Inspection of the right side for remnants. Aspen
cage 6x16x13 mm was inserted and 26 mm one level
cervical plate with 14mm screws inserted to C6
and 16 mm screws inserted to C7 to achieve
fusion C6-7.
Routine
closure of the wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery. The power of the
right upper limb became better, but the numbness
still the same.
Comments
The patient has a huge extruded disc with
severe compression at the C6-7 right side. Recovery speed
will depend upon the severity of the nerve injury before
surgery.
