Comments
The recurrence rate in lumbar disc
surgery is around 7%, because the disc space is not
completely collapsed.
Anamnesis
The patient was admitted to Al-Hayat hospital
25-June-2003 complaining of LBP with bilateral
sciatica with weak both lower limbs for several
weeks. MRI done recently showing severe
lumbar canal stenosis L2-3 with extruded disc
L3-4 wide based more to the right.
Decompressive laminectomy L2-3
and upper half of L4 with foraminotomy both L3 and
L4 roots. Bilateral cleaning of the disc of L3-4.
The patient was put in Reverse Trendelenburg
position with Valsalva maneuver and
hyperventilation. No CSF leak. Routine closure of
the wound
Smooth postoperative recovery.
The radicular pain decreased and the power of lower
limbs improved. He was sent to the ward.
Follow Up
The patient did not come to the clinic for
follow up. He was instead was followed by the
hospital doctors.
