54 YEARS EXTRUDED DISC C6-7 WITH RIGHT FORAMINAL OCCLUSION.
Anamnesis
The patient an Iraqi citizen came to the clinic
19-August-2002 complaining of progressing
atrophy of the right upper limb associated with
weakness and numbness. MRI
cervical spine performed 23-May-2002 showing
huge extruded disc C6-7 with right foraminal
occlusion. The patient has bronchial asthma for
15 years, using inhalers.
On examination: The patient has neck pain when
rotating the head down. There is weak grip,
extension right hand 3/5 and the right triceps
muscle 3/5. No myelopathic syndrome.
Through anterior approach, using the C-arm the level of C6-7 identified
and discectomy with osteophytectomy was
performed until the dura was seen at the bottom
of the created disc space. The extruded pieces
to the right foramen were removed. The dura was
relax. Routine
closure of the wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery.
The power of the right upper limb normalized.
He was sent to the ward.
Follow Up
The patient came to the clinic 31-August-2002
with clean wound and full power of the upper
limb and no radicular pain, nor hypalgesia.
the patient then came 30-November-2011
complaining of left sciatica with SLRS 40
degrees left side with pain and weak dorsi and
planterflexion left foot. MRI performed
18-August-2004 showing huge extruded disc L4-5,
more to the left. He was advised to perform
investigation and surgical interference, but he
disappeared.
