YEARS EXTRUDED DISC C6-7 WITH COMPRESSION OF THE SPINAL CORD.
Anamnesis
The patient to the clinic
11-November-2002 complaining of neck pain for 1
year, left upper limb pain for 2 years with
frozen left shoulder. The last 3 months has
right upper limb pain with numbness right ulnar
distribution. The patient is diabetic for 9
years.
On examination: The patient in agonizing neck
pain when turning the head to all directions,
more to the right side. There is weak grip,
extension right hand 3/5 with right triceps 3/5.
No myelopathic syndrome.
The patient was sent for investigations and MRI
cervical spine performed 12-November-2002
showing huge extruded disc C6-7 compressing the
spinal cord more to the right.
Anterior approach. Using the C-arm, the C6-7
level was identified and discectomy C6-7 was
performed and the extruded pieces were removed
until the dura was seen at the bottom of the
disc space. Routine closure of the wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery.
The power of the right upper limb improved.
She was sent to the ward.
Follow Up
The patient came to the clinic 04-December-2002
with clean wound, still having mild weak right
triceps muscle and normal sensation right upper
limb.
