15-FEBRUARY-2003 JAMAL ZAKARIYA KHDEIR 36 YEARS
POST-TRAUMATIC BONE DEFECT IN THE LEFT TEMPORAL REGION.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic 12-February-2003
complaining of presence of bone defect left
temporal area after suffering head injury 3
months ago.
On examination: the patient is neurologically
free. He has wide bone defect in the left
temporal region with the brain pulsation felt
upon touching the overlying skin.
The old incision refreshed
and the flap was elevated and the dura was
preserved intact. After refreshment of the bony
edges and remolding so as to accept the bone
cement, which was configured to regain a normal
appearing part of the skull. After that the
boundaries and the surface of the bone-cemented
area was smoothed to prevent any sharp edges. Routine closure of
the wound
Follow Up
The patient came to the clinic 25-February-2003
with clean wound and the configuration of the
area is acceptable.
Comments
The patient needs fulfilling the bone defect to
prevent further trauma to the brain and decrease
the incidence of epileptic attacks.
