LEFT CLIVAL MENINGIOMA.
Anamnesis
The patient an Iraqi citizen was operated
by me
23-March-2004 for low grade glioma IV
ventricle, then
17-June-2004 for huge left lesser wing
meningioma then came to the
clinic 25-October-2004 complaining of increasing
weak right side of he body with horizontal
nystagmus both sides. MRI done recently showing
both resected tumors not present, but the left
subtentorial huge meningioma enlarged in size
compressing the brainstem. The patient in
Minirin nasal spray, Decadron 0.5 mg twice
daily. He has swallowing difficulty with
hypotrophy of the tongue left side.
Radical removal of the
meningioma was achieved through separated left
subtemporal and left antesigmoid approaches. Routine closure
of the wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery. Considering
swallowing difficulty and bad respiratory drive,
the patient was put in ventilator and follow up
followed in the ICU. From there he was
discharged.
Comments
The patient future
is gloomy since another small foci are noted
elsewhere.

Inomed Riechert-Mundinger System, with three point
fixation is the most accurate system in the market. The microdrive and
its sensor gives feed back about the localization.
