YEARS SEVERE CERVICAL STENOSIS C3-4, 4-5, 5-6 WITH QUADRIPARESIS.
Anamnesis
The patient a Yemeni citizen came to the
emergency of Shmaisani hospital with dense
plegia four limbs down from C3. MRI cervical
spine showing severe stenosis C3-4, 4-5, 5-6.
On examination: the patient is bedridden in
Foley's catheter with the right deltoid 3/5,
right biceps 3/5 grip right hand 2/3, other wise
all other muscles are 0/5. There is analgesia
below C4 level.
Discectomy of C3-4, 4-5, 5-6 was done until the dura was seen along all the
posterior aspects. All stages of surgery were
done under C-arm control.
Routine closure of the wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery. The neurological
status still the same
FOLLOW UP
The patient
then came to the clinic 04-October-2003 with clean
wound with slight improvement of the upper limbs.
She was advised to undergo medical treatment and
physiotherapy.
Comments
The patient has
progressive cervical canal stenosis. The sooner
the surgical decompression, the better the
outcome. She came too late with frank paraplegia
and recovery with these data will be minimal.
