Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic 04-January-2005
complaining of neck pain for 5 months with left
upper limb pain and numbness both hands. MRI
cervical spine performed 26-December-2004
showing huge extruded disc C5-6 central more to
the left with compression of the spinal cord.
On examination: The patient
is in agonizing pain associated with movement of
the head to all directions. There is weak grip
and extension of the left hand 3/5 and the left
triceps muscle. There is no myelopathic
syndrome.
Through anterior approach,
the disc level was identified by C-arm and
meticulous cleaning of the disc space of C5-6
was achieved until the dura was seen relax at
the posterior border of the disc cavity. Routine
closure of the wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery.
The power of the left upper limb improved.
She was sent to the ward.
Follow Up
The patient came to the clinic 05-October-2008
complaining of numbness both hands with edema.
The power of the upper limbs was normal and no
neck pain. She was sent for investigations and
disappeared.
Comments
There is no recurrence of the cervical
disc, since the anatomy permit radical removal of the disc
material.

Inomed Riechert-Mundinger System, with three point
fixation is the most accurate system in the market. The microdrive and
its sensor gives feed back about the localization.
