CONDITION AFTER SEVERAL OPERATIONS FOR ARNOLD CHIARI MALFORMATION.
Anamnesis
The patient was operated by me
21-September-2003 for Arnold-Chiari
malformation. The patient continued to complain
of headache . The patient came 22-December-2003
with new MRI showing that there is no tonsilar
compression and fundoscopy showed
regression of the papilloedema. The patient
husband was irritated by another neurosurgeon
and he wanted to sue me, because I performed the
wrong surgery. Suddenly he appeared in the
entrance of the hospital urging for help to
resolve his wife problem. She was operated
elsewhere and after the surgery a huge CSF leak
is coming out from the wound.
The old wound opened and
there was a huge dural defect at the
cervico-medullary junction. A lyodura was
applied to close the defect water-tightly
and routine closure of the wound. In
24-February-2004 LPS PS Medical was inserted to
resolve the problem of suspected associated
pseudotumor cerebri.
FOLLOW UP
The patient came to the clinic 21-March-2004
with clean wounds and feeling good.
Comments
This case mostly a mixture of Arnold-Chiari
malformation and pseudotumor cerebri. Both were
resolved in the last setting.
