EXTRUDED DISC L5-S1 WITH LEFT FORAMINAL OCCLUSION.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the emergency of Shmaisani
hospital and seen by Dr. Ali Bayyati with history of
LBP with left sciatica for 4 years with exacerbation and left
sciatica for 4 days with radiation to the left
L5 territory.
On examination is limping with scoliotic stance,
with agonizing pain. SLRS was
30 degrees with pain in the right and 45 degrees left side
with pain and weak dorsiflexion and
planterflexion both feet 4/5 and hypalgesia left
L5 and S1 territories.
MRI lumbar spine done 14-Novemebr-2013 showing
extruded disc L5-S1 with left foraminal
occlusion.
Left L5-S1 hemiflavotomy with
foraminotomy left S1 root. The extruded disc was
reached subaxillary and removed.
Meticulous cleaning of the disc space of L5-S1
from the left.
Smooth postoperative
recovery. The power of both feet became normal.
Comments
The patient still has an estimated postoperative
recurrence rate around 7%, because the disc
space height is still not shallow.
