EXTRUDED DISC C6-7 WITH LEFT FORAMINAL OCCLUSION.
Anamnesis
The patient came
to the clinic 19-May-2013 complaining of severe
pain in the left intrascapular region radiating
to the left upper limb for 75 days with numbness
middle finger left hand.
On examination: The patient has decreased
hearing right ear for 15 years. There is mild
pain when turning the head to the left and
upward. There is weak extension left hand and
left triceps muscle 4/5.
The patient was sent for MRI cervical spine,
which done 20-May-2013 showing extruded disc
C6-7 with left foraminal occlusion.
Discectomy of C6-7 with
removal of the extrusion from the left foramen
with insertion of Samarys RF cervical cage
5x17x13 mm with bone graft. Using Trestle-II
cervical plate one level 16 mm length and 4
fixed screws 4x14 mm, fusion of C6 and C7 was
done with the use of C-arm.
Routine closure of the wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery.
The power of the left upper limb became normal.
Comments
The patient has considerably huge extrusion with
foraminal occlusion. Surgical intervention is
the only solution to such a case.
