27-SEPTEMBER-2012 NASER IZZIDEEN NASER 47 YEARS
EXTRUDED DISC C6-7 WITH LEFT FORAMINAL OCCLUSION.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic 22-September-2012
complaining of pain left shoulder 5 days after
falling down 2 months ago. The last 5 days got
agonizing neck and left upper limb pain with
numbness of the left median nerve distribution.
MRI cervical spine done 19-September-2012
showing extruded disc C6-7 with left foraminal
occlusion.
On examination, the patient has pain when
turning his head to the left down and up. The
grip of the left hand was 4/5, extension of the
hand was-4/5 and the left triceps muscle was
-3/5.
Discectomy C6-7 was achieved
with removal of the extruded fragments to the
left foramen. Fidji cervical cage 12x15x5.3 mm
was inserted. Using Trinica plate one level 22
mm with four fixed screws 14x4.2, fusion of C6-7
was done and checked with the C-arm.
Routine closure of the wound. Dramatic
improvement of the power of the left upper limb.

Comments
The patient has an
agonizing radicular pain. Surgical decompression
and fusion is the only solution in this case.
