54 YEARS EXTRUDED DISC L4-5 WITH LEFT FORAMINAL OCCLUSION.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic 02-November-2013
complaining of LBP for 45 days with left
sciatica. The patient was operated for left knee
2 months ago.
On examination: the patient is limping with
exaggerated scoliotic
stance. SLRS was 70 degrees with pain
left side. There is weak dorsiflexion and
planterflexion left foot 4/5.
MRI lumbar spine done
02-November-2013 showing extruded disc L4-5 with
left foraminal occlusion.
Using C-arm, the L4-5
level identified. Left L4-5 hemiflavotomy with
foraminotomy left L5 root. Left sided cleaning
of the extrusion and the disc space was
achieved. Routine
closure of the wound.
Smooth postoperative
recovery.
Comments
The patient still has an estimated postoperative
recurrence around 7%, because the disc space is
still not shallow.
