RIGHT PTERIONAL MENINGIOMA.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the hospital 10-May-2014
complaining of headache for 5 years and was
treated for arterial hypertension and diabetes
mellitus. She started to complain of memory
disturbances the last 5 months. MRI done 10 days
ago showed right pterional meningioma with wide
matrix. The patient is right handed.
On examination; the patient is neurologically
free.
Right pterional approach with reflection of the
bone flap to the ear. The dura was incised
circumferential around the meningioma and the
meningioma with the dural were removed in one
piece. Control hemostasis of the right sylvian
cistern. A lyodura was used to obtain
water-tight closure of the dural layer.
The part of the bone flap was drilled off the
hyperostotic matrix of the meningioma, until a
healthy bone came out. Routine closure of the
wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery.
Comments
Radical removal must include the removal of the
hyperostotic bone with removal of the meningioma
with its dural matrix.
