13-AUGUST-2011 SUHA MICHEL NIEMAH 57 YEARS
EXTRUDED DISC L5-S1 WITH RIGHT FORAMINAL OCCLUSION.
Anamnesis
The
patient came to the clinic 04-August-2011
complaining of LBP for 3 months with right
sciatica for 2 weeks.
MRI
lumbar spine done 02-August-2011 showing
extruded disc L5-S1 with right foraminal
occlusion.
On
examination: the patient is limping and has
exaggerated scoliotic stance. There is weak
dorsiflexion right foot 4/5 and planterflexion
same foot -4/5. There is hypalgesia right L5
territory.
Right S1 foraminotomy with
partial flavotomy L5-S1. The extruded disc was
removed lateral to the axilla in three pieces.
Cleaning of L5-S1 disc space was performed from
the right. The disc space was shallow.
Routine
closure of the wound. Smooth postoperative
recovery .

Comments
The postoperative recurrence rate in this case
is below 7% because the disc space is shallow.
