GHANNAYEM 68 YEARS LCS L4-5 WITH LEFT LATERAL RECESS SYNDROME.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic 07-February-2005
complaining of LBP for 10 days with exacerbation
the last 4 days with left sciatica down to the
posterior thigh. The patient underwent 3 times
cath and stinting 5 years ago. TUR 5 years ago.
On examination: The patient is limping, using
crutches with exaggerated scoliotic stance. SLRS
was 70 degrees right and 50 degrees left with
more pain. The left AJ is absent. There is weak
dorsi and planterflexion left foot 3/5.
The patient was sent for investigation and MRI
lumbar spine performed the same day, showed
lumbar canal stenosis with left lateral recess
syndrome.
Decompressive laminectomy L4-5 with foraminotomy
both L5 roots. Check for CSF leak was negative.
Routine closure of the wound.
Follow Up
The patient came 10 days after surgery with SLRS
50 degrees with pain and full power left foot
and normal sensation.
Comments
The earlier decompression, the better is
the outcome.
