PROGRESSIVE HYDROCEPHALUS DUE TO AQUADUCTAL STENOSIS.
Anamnesis
The patient came with parents to the clinic
11-August-2014, with the notice of the parents
that his head is growing fast. He was born full
term through Caesarian with full Apgar scale.
On examination; the patient is neurologically
free, sucking well and normal activity with head
circumference 37.5 cm with huge tense fontanels.
The patient was sent for new MRI of the brain
which was done 12-August-2014 showing moderated
hydrocephalus due to aquaductal stenosis.
The PS Medical low pressure infant VPS was
repaired. The reservoir was not functioning.
Another reservoir was replaced and it was
functioning well. The device was inserted to the
right parietal region and to the intraperitoneal
cavity. Routine
closure of the wounds.
Smooth postoperative recovery. The fontanel
became lax and dropped down.
Comments
It is mandatory to check the VPS device
before inserting it to prevent future troubleshooting of the
device.
