HUGE EXTRUDED DISC C5-6 WITH LEFT FORAMINAL OCCLUSION.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic 08-April-2018
complaining of neck pain for 5 month with left
upper limb pain with numbness of
the thumb of the left hand. The patient performed MRI
cervical spine 26-December-2017 showing extruded
disc C5-6 with left foraminal occlusion.
On examination; the patient has severe pain when
turning the head to all sides, more when turning
to the right. There is weak flexion and extension of the
left hand 4/5
and left triceps 4/5. There is hypalgesia of the
thumb of the left hand.
The patient was sent for investigation and MRI
cervical spine performed 15-April-2018 showing
the same extrusion. Lab
investigations and dynamic studies were normal.
The MRI investigation was done under the name of
Ahmad Kamel Yousef for financial reasons.
Discectomy C5-6 until the dura was seen at both
sides. ON PLUS (EOS) Cervical
bladed cage 13x15 H6 with IN'OSS 2x0.5 ml inserted to C6-7 level. Routine closure of the
wound.
Smooth postoperative
recovery. The power of the left upper limb
normalized and the radicular pain disappeared. He was sent to the ward.
Comments
The patient has an extruded disc
which is not subsiding. Surgical decompression is the only
solution.
