The patient came with neck pain and weak right hand grip and extension and the triceps muscle of both upper limbs. MRI of the cervical spine showed medium large PCD C6-7 with malacia of the spinal cord.
Suspicion about MS was ruled out by performing brain MRI. Due to the extensive malacia of the spinal cord in relation to the size of disc extrusion
suspicion about instability was considered and discectomy C6-7 was performed and cage fusion was done.
The patient came 08-August-2006 with normalization of all neurologic
signs and he was complaining of burning sensation in the left
shoulder and left chest wall. It was explained to him that, the
morphologic changes which were noted in the preoperative MRI will
remain forever and palliative measures were undertaken. |
