PSEUDOTUMOR CEREBRI.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic 06-June-2002
complaining of headache for 2 months after RTA
with dizziness at that time, but no vomiting. 10
days ago got blurring vision with bilateral
scatomas. On examination at that time she has
bilateral papilloedema. She was diagnosed with
Hashimoto disease 1 year ago under treatment
with 250 microgram daily. MRI brain done today
showing pseudotumor cerebri with partially empty
sella turcica. The patient was treated
conservatively and diamox 250 mg given 5 times a
day.
The patient then came 15-June-2003 telling
that she is deteriorating and was sent for
investigations. MRI of the brain and fundus
photography with visual acuity and visual fields
confirmed the presence of pseudotumor cerebri
and she was advised to undergo surgery.
Insertion of MP Medical LPS
was performed in the left kidney position.
Routine closure of the wounds and smooth
postoperative recovery.
FOLLOW UP
The patient came to the clinic
29-November-2003 with clean wounds
and the patient is not complaining and not receiving
diamox or Lasix.
The patient
then came several times with several problems not
related to her disease and the last time seen
21-December-2005 with normal fundoscopy and
neurologically free.
Comments
In case of no improvement of the condition by
conservative measures and decreasing the weight
of the patient, then LPS is the last option.
