HYDROCEPHALUS WITH OBSTRUCTION AT THE III VENTRICLE.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the ICU Shmaisani hospital
06-June-2003 unconscious with history gradual
deterioration over the last week.
On examination: The patient is not in ventilator
and responding to pain stimuli. MRI brain done
showing active hydrocephalus due posterior third
of the III ventricle.
Incision over the right
frontal area 1 cm anterior to the saggital
suture. The endoscope was inserted to the right
lateral ventricle, but the screen showed very
blurry picture, that it was impossible to see
the foramen of Monroe, for what PS Medical VPS
adult type 2 level performance delta type was
inserted. Routine closure of the
wounds.
Smooth postoperative recovery.
He was sent to the ward. He showed dramatic
improvement .
FOLLOW UP
He came 20-June-2004 with
clean wounds talking walking.
Comments
The patient could have benign increased
intracranial pressure, or pseudotumor cerebri of
aquaductal stenosis. In all cases VPS will help.
