EXTRUDED DISC C6-7 WITH LEFT FORAMINAL OCCLUSION.
Anamnesis
The patient came to the clinic 18-November-2004
complaining of neck pain for 2 months with left
upper limb pain and numb left hand.
On examination before surgery: the patient is in
agonizing pain. There is weak grip and extension
left hand 3/5 and left triceps muscle 3/5.
Using the C-arm the level of C6-7 was identified
and discectomy of C6-7 was performed with
osteophytectomy until the dura was seen at the
bottom of the removed disc cavity. Routine closure of the wound.
Smooth postoperative recovery and the power of
the left upper limb normalized and the patient
was sent to the ward.
Follow Up
The patient came to the clinic 04-December-2004
with clean wound and normal power of the left
upper limb.
The patient then came 01-February-2017
complaining of right sciatica for 2 years. He
was limping with exaggerated scoliotic stance
with weak dorsi and planterflexion right foot
4/5. MRI done 28-December-2016 showing extruded
disc L5-S1. There is aneurysm of the aorta below
the renal artery level. The patient was treated
conservatively and sent for vascular
consultation.
Comments
The recurrence rate
in cervical disc surgery is zero. Another disc
can cause de novo extrusion.
Skyra MRI with all clinical applications in the run since 28-Novemeber-2013.

fixation is the most accurate system in the market. The microdrive and
its sensor gives feed back about the localization.
